Another thing I'm really excited about at this current moment, is that there is a Doctor Who game coming out on Wii.

To quote Will Ferrell: "HOLY SANTA CLAUSE SHIT!".

As if things couldn't be any better for me, Doctor Who wise, the Fifth Season box-set is released in early November, followed by the Christmas Special, which features a Flying Shark!

I'm so keen!

Torchwood

My new favourite thing at the moment is Torchwood, Doctor Who's adult spin-off. Seeing as I watched pretty much every episode of the new DW series', I decided I would see if Torchwood is any good. It is so god damn amazing! It's darker, more sexual, but still retains all DW's major draws, like an excellent cast and scaretastic aliens. I don't know why, but I think it's great that half the team are either gay or bisexual. I love that underlying human factor underneath the alien-hunting and running in the rain,

I think I have a little bit of a crush on Gwen :3. And I really want to dress as Jack for Halloween :D

Find Your Post, Find Your Shelter!

The Devil Wears Prada are a fucking amazing metal/hardcore band from the U.S.A. Was so lucky to see them in concert a few weeks ago. Flew to Brisbane, got to see a friend I hadn't seen in ages, and we went to the Parkway Drive concert at the Brisbane Riverstage. Was absolutely mind-blowing. 4 excellent bands all in one concert. 50 Lions representing Australian hardcore, extremely tight and mosh-worthy Americans, The Ghost Inside, and insane Christian metalcore heroes The Devil Wears Prada, all in support of one of Australia's greatest bands, Parkway Drive. It was one of the best nights of my life. So much singing, so much time just going mental. Ended up crashing at my friend's mate's house, and played guitar and chilled til' the early morning. I loved it :)

Anyways, I'm really into TDWP at the moment, and I love this picture they took for their latest release, the Zombie EP. I love Mike (vocalist) so much in this. That chainsaw is looking mighty brutal.

Pyramid Song

Sometimes we are lonely. Sometimes I am lonely. This song makes me feel that's okay. It's kind of my kind of song. Thom Yorke's intensely deep lyrics, his vocals that make it seem like he's drowning. The hopelessness of it all. Radiohead just somehow capture the most primeval of human emotions in their songs. Love it.

Firecracker Love

I know a while ago that I said my favourite fictional couple was Sam and Annie from Life On Mars, but I think someone has surpassed that. Michael Westen, and his on-again-off-again girlfriend Fiona, from Burn Notice. I've loved that show since the very first episode was aired here in Australia, and I love watching them so much. So much tension, so much fire (particularly coming Fiona). Oh, I love them so much :)

Inspiration

Lately, things have been mostly good, but I've been very uninspired. I can't explain how much The Amity Affliction's album 'Youngbloods' speaks to me. Because of having nothing to listen to, I started listening to it again. Oh boy, the lyrics are just so deep. They make me think a lot. At the same time, I feel such conviction from the words, I totally agree with them, yet I doubt them an immense amount at the same time. There is just so much we don't know, and so many different opinions and thoughts on everything, it's slightly overwhelming. Kind of makes me feel slightly less important. I just felt it was necessary to say.

I didn't say anything, but last month Amity came to Townsville (about an hour away) and I went and had an excellent time with my friends. I wanted to write a whole big massive thing about it, but I didn't really feel like it. The concert was so inspiring though.

Excuse me, as I'm now going to go back and immerse myself deeply in the words of Joel and Ahren.

Right now, I'm in the middle of a terrible state. I've never felt so alone, and it's just saddening. At times I just feel apathetic, just feel nothing. This song by I Killed The Prom Queen is the only thing I can relate to right now. Also the other songs from 'Music For The Recently Deceased'. That's me.

Classic Who

Right now, I'm in such a big Doctor Who mood. Not so much the recent episodes, but all the old adventures (including the black and white ones!!!). Last night I watched 'Day Of The Daleks' starring John Pertwee as the Third Doctor, and tonight I have been watching 'Tomb Of The Cybermen' starring Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor. All this Doctor Who watching has made me want to start my own tumblr again, about classic Doctor Who, and maybe some new stuff. We will see how it goes. For now, here are some pictures and paraphernalia (i really like that word) from 'Tomb Of The Cybermen'. One day, I hope to have the biggest collection of Doctor Who DVDs and things ever.

Music For The Recently Deceased

Wow, I love Ed Butcher so much right now. It's a Friday afternoon, and sadly I have a headache, but Ed's voice is the only thing I can stand. His work with I Killed The Prom Queen is brutal and beautiful. Also his album with his band Eternal Lord is crazy. I recently injured my leg dancing to one of their songs, ha. I would say he's my main source of happiness and inspiration at the moment.

New Australian Deathcore/Death Metal heroes Thy Art Is Murder have just released their debut album. Check them out. Their first EP was killer. I would say it was the album of last summer, but most people would disagree. But what do they know.

Ian Curtis

Lead singer of Joy Division. Dead at age 23. Severely depressed. The story of Ian Curtis makes me sad. I really like him. It's possibly because I've always sort of been surrounded by sadness. His depression reflected in his music. Before he had even reached the prime of his life he penned one of the greatest songs of all time. Love will tear us apart.

Best Albums of 2010

Me, I love music. It's my thing. I live off music. Every moment of my life is just music. It's kinda great. Sometimes I find it tiring, but not often. This year in particular, has been great for me, musically. I've gone through so many genres, and just cycled through so much awesome, and at times, not so awesome music. So, I've decided to tip a gentle nod towards Pitchfork Media and Triple J (only the greatest radio station evarr) and compile a list of my top albums of 2010. I'm not going to actually do it till the year is over, but I thought I might name a few now that I've really like. Two weeks ago I got the new Parkway Drive and Amity Affliction albums. I was really excited because they are both great Australian heavy bands. I was more excited for Parkway to be honest, but after listening, I thought otherwise. Deep Blue is definitely good, brutal and heavy, but I just can't get over the awesome melodic sounds of Youngbloods. For the first time, The Amity Affliction sound like a band to me. There's not a weak moment on the album, and there's a great breakdown in 'Fire or Knife' that I just crank as loud as I can every time I hear it. I reckon it's in my top 3 albums of this year, without doubt. That's pretty good, considering I've heard so much music this year. Hero 28: Aphex Twin

Basically, Aphex Twin is this one British guy called Richard D. James, who just makes real awesome electronic music. I haven't heard any of his music yet, but I'm extremely intrigued by him. In 1994, he put out this record entitled 'Selected Ambient Works Volume II'. The name doesn't sound like much, but it is far from it. There are 25 songs on the album, and every single one is untitled, save for one, titled 'Blue Calx'. The interesting thing is that the album was inspired by his dreams. He would wake up from his dreams, and try recreate sounds from his dreams by creating soundscapes, and relating them to colours. This is like, the ultimate form of music creation. I am going to buy this as soon as I can, and then I will probably review it, or probably not. Basically, I'm in love with the idea of the record, and him. Heroism in music = win.
